Official visits dengue-affected villages in Karur district

M.S.Shanmugam, Director, Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project, visited the dengue-affected villages, including Kosur, on Thursday.

He is the second senior official of the State government to visit the affected villages in the last two days.

Accompanied by Collector S.Jayandhi, he reviewed the door-to-door campaign taken up to control dengue and other communicable diseases. He held a review meeting at the collectorate and asked officials to expedite the control measures.

Mr.Shanmugam also visited Kodangipatti, Kaniyalayampatti and inspected the functioning of Primary Health Centres. Besides checking the attendance registers of doctors, nurses, and other staff members, he verified the availability of medicines.

He asked the medical officers to extend best possible treatment to those admitted for labour pain and new-born babies. The available facilities should be used properly, he said.
