Horticulture official found dead on bus

M. Ravichandran (48), Assistant Director of Horticulture Department from Salem, was found dead due to a “massive cardiac arrest” on a State Express Transport Corporation bus, which arrived here from Madurai at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police here said he had spoken to his wife at 6.11 a.m. and again at 6.35 a.m., but did not pick up calls from officials and friends. Ravichandran started his journey to Nagercoil from Salem at midnight for an official inspection of orchards in Kanyakumari and Pechiparai.

As news spread, department officials rushed to Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital. The body was hand over to the family members after post-mortem in the evening.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, who is doing second-year Siddha medicine, and a schoolgoing son. Vadaseri police have registered a case of unnatural death.
