The Tamil Nadu Registration Department Officials Association, a newly-formed body encompassing four associations of the department, has urged the State government to take steps to fill up vacant posts in the department immediately.

A large number of posts were lying vacant in the department resulting in workload for existing employees. S.E.Vasudevan, State coordinator of the association, said that the sesquicentennial celebrations of the department would fall in 2014 and the association has planned to invite Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for the celebrations. N.Suki Premila, taluk supply officer, who was presented with the ‘Kalpana Chawla’ award, was honoured on the occasion for her bravery in stopping smuggling of PDS rice from Tamil Nadu.
