Tirupparankundram MLA A.K. Bose, on Monday, made a u-turn by announcing that he was ready to accept the party post in farmers wing that was announced by AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran.

Mr. Bose had rejected the post while addressing the press along with Revenue Minister R.B. Udayakumar, only on Saturday.

“I am going to meet Mr. Dhinakaran on August 10. I have certain issues to be clarified by him on the proposal of making me the joint secretary of State Farmers’ Wing. Mr. Dhinakaran has said that his activities would not bring any harm to the Edappadi K. Palaniswamy-led governnment. I want to clarify on this.,” he told The Hindu on Monday.

Besides, Mr. Bose wanted to clarify whether the new posting offered to him in the party was with the knowledge of party’s interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala.

“I would not accept the party post, if there is any hindrance to the present Government,” he said. “Ms. Sasikala had asked Mr. Dhinakaran to lead the party and Mr. Palaniswamy to head the Government. We are still following that,” he added. Mr. Bose also said that he wanted to explain to Mr. Dhinakaran about his health condition too.

The meeting of Mr. Bose on August 10 assumes significance in the backdrop of Mr. Dhinakaran scheduled to address his first public meeting at Melur on August 14. Three-time MLA, R. Samy, who is a staunch supporter of Mr. Dhinarakan, has been organising the meeting.

In a new twist in the faction-ridden ruling party, Revenue Minister R.B. Udhayakumar, on Sunday made a “courtesy call” on Mr. Samy at Melur.

They had a closed-door meeting for nearly three hours. However, Mr. Udayakumar claimed that he met Mr. Samy only to enquire about his health. The Minister left Melur amid sloganeering by Mr. Samy’s supporters who hailed Mr. Dhinakaran.

Mr. Samy though did not reveal what was discussed, said “it was all for the betterment of the party. It could also be for bringing upon unity among the party factions.”

However, he added that the work for the public meeting at Melur was going on in full swing.

“Madurai is considered an auspicious place for AIADMK. The party founder, M.G. Ramachandran and former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa used to kick start their tours from Madurai. Following their footsteps, Mr. Dhinakaran too wants to start it from here,” he added.
