North-East monsoon remains active

As the North-East monsoon remains active in Tamil Nadu, the regional weather office today forecast more rains for the next 24 hours in the coastal areas of the State and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that the trough of low pressure over Bay of Bengal has moved northwardly, Regional Meteorological Centre sources said some places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry would experience heavy to very heavy showers till tomorrow morning.

However, Chennai would generally be cloudy and there might be few spells of rain or thundershowers during this period, they said.
