A day after 19 AIADMK MLAs, loyalists of “ousted” AIADMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, submitted letters to Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao withdrawing support to him, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Wednesday asserted that no one would be able to dislodge the government as long as it had the blessings of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's soul.

At the function that turned out to be a show of strength with the participation of all his Cabinet colleagues, most of AIADMK MLAs and party office-bearers, Mr. Palaniswami said some people [AIADMK MLAs supporting Mr. Dhinakaran] had been terming the ‘Amma government’ corrupt.

They were part of the government till they switched over to the other camp, the Chief Minister said, adding he would leave it to them to decide whether it was right on their part to level such allegations.

Expressing happiness over sharing dais with Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam after the merger of AIADMK (Amma) and AIADMK (PTA), Mr. Palaniswami observed it had taken six months for the development to take place. In his maiden address in an official function after the merger, Mr. Panneerselvam, who got a standing ovation from the AIADMK cadre, asserted that no force, however mighty, could defeat the AIADMK government and the party.

The formation of the government was an outcome of untold sufferings, sacrifice and hard work of former Chief Minister Jayalaithaa.

She worked day and night to get the mandate of people to rule the State for the second consecutive term. It would not only complete its full term but also keep getting the support of people for their continuous uplift. Referring to the grand reception, Mr. Panneerselvam, said that he did not expect to speak at the function.

He said he was happy to see smiles back on the faces of party cadre.

“The government was established with the sacrifice of Jayalalithaa. We will sacrifice even our lives to save and sustain the government and the party,” Mr. Panneerselvam said.

Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai, Speaker P. Dhanapal, Chief Whip S. Rajendran, Rajya Sabha Member R. Vaithilingam spoke.
