MDMK leader Vaiko on Monday assailed what he termed as concerted attempts by media to depict a slowdown in campaign momentum of People’s Welfare Front constituents over the last one week. Public response to the conference planned by DMDK-PWF-TMC in Tiruchi on Wednesday will reveal the true strength of the combine. With a 35 per cent vote share, the alliance will easily win in 150 constituencies, Mr. Vaiko said while campaigning for Erode West MDMK candidate Murugan.

Mr. Vaiko who campaigned at Soolai, Moolapalayam and Vellode said the media had been “bought over with money” to black out the significance of a meeting organised recently at Palladam by a federation of 94 farmer organisations to commit its support to the alliance.

Mr. Vaiko said the alliance will form Lok Ayukta and confiscate ill-gotten wealth of corrupt people, close down TASMAC outlets, upgrade hospitals, and write-off farm loans and education loans.

The MDMK leader was critical of Election Commission saying it was not doing enough to curb movement of money to entice voters. He said he hoped the younger generation will prevent elders in their families from receiving bribe from parties.
