With the police awaiting the post—mortem and viscera reports of deceased state CPI (M) leader W.R. Varadarajan, whose body was found from a lake here on February 21, a top official on Saturday said that there was “no indication” of any foul-play in his death.
City Police Commissioner T. Rajendiran told reporters here that the note left behind by Mr. Varadarajan before leaving home “points towards suicide.” “He was troubled and depressed (on being removed from key party posts). Till now (the course of investigation) there is no indication of any foul play,” he said in response to reporters’ queries.
Mr. Rajendiran said that the police was waiting for the post—mortem and viscera reports.
On Thursday, PMK founder S. Ramadoss promoted Makkal TV, had aired a report alleging murder angle to Mr. Varadarajan’s death, resulting in a political row between PMK and CPI(M)resulting in attacks on the offices of CPI(M) and Makkal TV in Chennai.
