No A(H1N1) flu in State, says Panneerselvam

August 19, 2010 12:42 am | Updated 12:42 am IST - CUDDALORE:

Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam has categorically stated that there is no incidence of A(H1N1) flu in Tamil Nadu and 28 cases reported recently were carriers from outside the State.

There was no need to panic and people should not give credence to rumours, he said on Tuesday.

He was speaking at Vriddhachalam Government Hospital after inaugurating additional buildings constructed at a cost of Rs.1.65 crore.

The Minister, however, said that the State government had taken all precautionary measures against A(H1N1) flu, including timely medical help wherever required. Medical teams had been deployed along State boundaries to screen those entering Tamil Nadu as was done last year.

The World Bank has promised assistance of Rs.600 crore for improving facilities at government hospitals this year.
