The Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are playing major role in propelling the growth of economy, S.K Acharya CMD,NLC India Ltd has said.

In his 8th Public Sector Day Message to the employees read out in absentia, Mr. Acharya congratulated the NLC employees for their impressive performance which had created record breaking results in all fronts.

The NLC, he said, was making continuous efforts in the fields of Swachh Bharath, Skills India, and cashless transactions to realise the nation’s mission.

Chief Guest Mr. Rakesh Kumar, director (Finance) called the PSUs as the nation’s back bone which was playing dual role by giving employment directly or indirectly to lakhs of people and taking social welfare programmes to the lowest level . In India, an estimated 12 lakh people were employed through 320 CPSUs, he added.

The Public Sector Week celebrations (April 11-15) will showcase the contribution extended by the Public Sector Organisations in nation-building and social progress. The celebrations were being hosted under the auspices of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body for Public Enterprises/Public Sector Undertakings.

An exhibition at Lignite Hall (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), a week long skill development workshop for school children and various competitions including quiz are also being organised.

A mobile van will tour peripheral villages to highlights CSR initiatives and training opportunities offered under skill development and women empowerment.
