NLC hospital gets diabetic unit

Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation A.R. Ansari inaugurated a diabetic unit in the NLC-run general hospital at Neyveli on Saturday.

He said that all efforts had been made to render medical care to employees so as to make the Neyveli Township a healthy place. If need be, services of specialists from elsewhere would also be requisitioned.

NLC director (personnel) P. Babu Rao said that 15 children below the age of 15 were found to have diabetes. Steps had been taken to treat them and five glucometers given to them.

Later, V. Balaji, diabetologist from Chennai, spoke on “Living with diabetes.”

NLC director (mines) B. Surender Mohan, general superintendent of the hospital P.T. Shanmugasundaram, officials and employees participated.
