Deaths during political campaings: NHRC notice to TN Chief Secretary, DGP

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken a serious note on reports of people dying during political campaigns due to excessive heat. The NHRC has issued notice to Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary and DGP over alleged violation of human rights in political rallies during scorching daylight.

On April 12, >two people died in hospital after they took ill while attending the election meeting addressed in Virudachalam. On April 21, >three died in two separate incidents in Salem.
