Neyveli book fair ends

2 lakh books with 10,000 titles showcased at event

The curtain came down on the 20th edition of the Neyveli Book Fair 2017 on Sunday.

T.P. Rajesh, District Collector, Cuddalore, participated as the guest of honour at the valedictory session.

In his address, the Collector said, “With the habit of reading good books, our thoughts and deeds get purified, thereby our life span would get enhanced.”

The NLC India Ltd has been hosting the book fair annually under its Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) activity.

The 20th edition attracted 134 publishers who showcased an estimated 2 lakh books with 10,000 titles for the readers to choose from. Around 2 lakh visitors, including 50 thousand students from various institutions of nearby districts, visited the fair.

Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) NLCIL, said financial assistance of ₹ 45 lakh had been allotted this year for the Neyveli Book Fair 2017.

V.Thangapandian, Director (Power), NLCIL, and the president of the Neyveli Book Fair 2017 presided over the function.

R.Vikraman, Director (HR), in his address said the book fair helped draw people away from the internet, social media and is also a motivation and encouragement to the writers and publishers.

Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance), NLC India Ltd., releasing the e-souvenir on the occasion of the 20th Neyveli Book Fair and T.P. Rajesh, Collector, Cuddalore District received the first copy.
