Newly elected DMK MLA from Pennagaram constituency, P.N.P. Inbasekaran was on Wednesday sworn in by the Speaker, R. Avudaiyappan.

He was sworn-in in the presence of DMK President and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, his son and Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Ministers and alliance party leaders, an official press release said.

Inbasekaran is the first legislator from the State to be sworn-in in the new Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, which was inaugurated early this month by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

He was elected to the Assembly from the Pennagaram constituency in the by-poll held there on March 27 following his father and DMK MLA P.N. Periannan’s death.
