Two new taluks - Pethanaickenpalayam in Salem district, and Sendamangalam in Namakkal district started functioning from Tuesday.

The State government had recently announced the formation of these taluks for effective revenue administration.

The new offices will issue community and income, nativity, and residential certificates, legal heirship, patta transfers, old-age pension and other certificates issued by the Revenue Department.

The new taluk office at Pethanaickenpalayam has 28 revenue villages under it and is functioning in the old union office building as a temporary measure.

Two tahsildars, five deputy tahsildars and 28 village administrative officers were posted for the new taluk in Salem.

Sendamangalam Taluk is carved out from Namakkal for which government orders were passed last month.

The taluk office started functioning at a private building on Sendamangalam – Budhansandai Road near Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Society.

Currently, two tahsildars, five deputy tahsildars and 26 officials were appointed for the new taluk.
