Sri Dhandayuthapaniswamy temple administration has created a new record in sale of ‘panchamritham’ here on Tuesday. It sold 13,47,137 kg of ‘panchamritham’ between November 17 and December 22.

The total revenue through the sale was Rs.6.76 crore, a lot more than the previous year’s sale. The total sale during the same period last year was Rs.5.40 crore. Revenue through other sources has been increasing steadily, according to Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department Joint Commissioner P. Rajamanickam.

The ‘panchamritham’ sale shot up this month owing to huge arrival of Sabarimala pilgrims. At present, production of ‘panchamritham’ a day was 150 sets, each set containing 1,000 boxes. The temple administration has planned to commission one more production plant to meet the growing demand. More sales outlets would be opened and sales staff strength improved. The revenue through darshan tickets was Rs.8.31 crore. The number of pilgrims visiting the temple crossed the one lakh-mark, he added.
