A day before the party executive meeting, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday gave new assignments to ministers and senior leaders in the party.

A press release stated that Higher Education Minister P. Palaniappan has been made the headquarters secretary of the party, a position remaining vacant since the removal of K.A. Sengottaiyan, who was the Revenue Minister till mid-July.

Until now, Mr. Palaniappan was the secretary of the Dharmapuri district unit of Jayalalithaa Peravai.

Social Welfare Department Minister and the party’s organisation secretary B. Valarmathi has been appointed secretary of the literary wing of the party.

Former Minister A.K. Selvaraj, who held the post of the presidium chairman of the Coimbatore City district unit of the party, is the new organisation secretary.

K. Thangamuthu, former Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Textbook Society, has become the secretary of the party’s agricultural wing.
