Need to uplift tribal people stressed

Sathyamangalam-based Jungle, a non-governmental organisation run by retired forest officials, has appealed to philanthropists to take active part in improving the living conditions of the tribal communities by way of contributing clothes, pens, pencils, notebooks, bed sheets, sarees, shirts, and dhoties.

The NGO, according to its functionaries, will coordinate with Forest Department and enable the philanthropists to deliver their donated materials directly to the beneficiaries.

The NGO is being supported by Erode Sengunthar Educational Trust for providing financial support to tribal students pursuing higher education.

As part of its welfare initiative, the NGO has teamed up with Tamil Nadu Forest Department and Erode Trust Hospital which conducted a general medical camp for the tribals at Government High School, Germalam, on Sunday.
