Chief Minister Jayalalithaa wants the Centre to name Domestic Terminal II of the Chennai Airport after the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam founder and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran.

In a letter to the Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh, Ms. Jayalalithaa has stated that it will be most fitting if the new domestic terminal is named after “MGR, who was one of the most illustrious, charismatic and popular Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu.”

The gesture will be welcomed by the people of Tamil Nadu who continue to have the greatest admiration and affection for MGR, she said.

The Chief Minister said that the expanded and modernised international terminal II, which was ready for inauguration, would be a welcome addition to the infrastructure of Chennai, which was seeing an ever increasing number of air passengers, both domestic and international.
