The National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) on Monday announced it has sanctioned Rs.47.50 crore to Tamil Nadu under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF XVIII) for executing water conservation and canopy improvement project in degraded forest lands.
In a press release, Nabard Chief General Manager Lalitha Venkatesan said with this the cumulative sanction under RIDF XVIII for 2012-13 stood at Rs.1,337.53 crore, of which Rs.152.70 was meant specifically for development of storage and warehousing facility in the State.
Other infrastructure development supported during the current year include rural roads and bridges; irrigation, school infrastructure; strengthening of dug out ponds for drinking water; sanitary complexes; fish farms and jetties for inland and marine fisheries; hostels for backward classes, most backward classes and minority community students.
At a recently held State-level seminar, Nabard released Tamil Nadu Focus Paper for the 12 Five Year Plan 2012-17 which said that out of 25,711 projects sanctioned under RIDF, 21,986 projects have been completed by the implementing departments.
Out of total assistance of Rs.9,539.59 crore, the State government availed Rs.7,450.58 crore.
