NAAC team visits GRI

Gandhigram Rural Institute should create more infrastructure facilities to attract more students at national and international levels, said Rajpal S. Sirohi, who led the Peer Team of NAAC Committee.

Addressing the exit meeting after completing the third cycle of inspection at the institute at Gandhigram on Wednesday, he said the IITs had a large number of students from various parts of the State and also from foreign countries. The GRI had to improve sanitation facilities and invest more in improving infrastructure facilities. Teachers were good, engaging in various research activities, he noted.

The committee gave suggestions for improving infrastructure, pinpointed their weaknesses and suggested ways to overcome them.

The other members of the team were former Vice-Chancellor of MDS University K.C. Sharma, Emeritus Professor at the University of Kerala Jacob John Kattakayam, Adult and Continuing Education Director of the University of Mumbai Dilip S. Patil, National Dairy Research Institute head K.P. Ramesha, GITAM University head M. Chandrasekar, Punjab University professor Manohar Lal Sharma and National Council of Educational Research and Training head Poonam Agarwal.

Vice-Chancellor S. Natarajan presided over the meeting.
