DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Friday said there was a mystery behind the arrest of police Fakrudeen and the government was adding to the confusion by making inconsistent statements.
In a statement here, he said though he wanted the government to clear doubts about the place of arrest of Fakrudeen and the police officers, who were involved in the operation, there was no proper answer from the government side.
Mr. Karunanidhi said when Chief Minister Jayalalithaa released the list of 21 police officials involved in the arrest of Fakrudeen, on October 9, the name of police inspector Veerakumar was missing. They were given a cash price of Rs. 5 lakh each
“When I raised the issue, she released another list of 245 officials and it included the name of Veerakumar. Even then the name of CB-CID inspector K. Annadurai was not included. Now the government has informed the court that it has issued orders for releasing Rs 1 lakh to Mr Annadurai,” he said.
Mr. Karunanidhi said the government first made one statement and then issued another only to contradict the earlier.
“It has only strengthened the doubts about the arrest of Fakrudeen,” he said.
