Three Myanmarese fishermen, found stranded off Vellapallam in Vedaranyam were rescued by local fishermen here on Monday.

The fishermen along with their large-sized bamboo boat were spotted stranded a few nautical miles off Vellapallam coast.

It is suspected that the fishermen and their boat had drifted during the recent cyclonic storms.

The men were handed over to the Coastal Security Group after they were rescued at around noon by fishermen of Kameshwaram hamlet.

The boat was left mid-sea as the local fishermen could not tow it with the local fibre boat.

Another fishing crew was deployed to toe the boat ashore. Interrogators had trouble seeking more details from fishermen as there was no interpreter.

On Sunday, an empty engineless Myanmarese boat was found stranded off Kodiakkarai.
