April 11, 2014 03:52 am | Updated November 27, 2021 06:55 pm IST - UDHAGAMANDALAM:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee for the Nilgiris Parliamentary constituency S. Gurumurthy on Thursday told a three-member fact-finding committee of the party that it was the negligence on his part that led to the rejection of his nomination.

The nominations of Mr. Gurumurthy and his substitute were rejected as Forms A and B were submitted after the deadline.

The State leadership formed the committee consisting of K. N. Lakshmanan, former State president, S. Mohanrajalu, State general secretary, and Subramaniam, All-India general body member, to inquire into the circumstances that led to the rejection of the nomination.

BJP district president J. Raman said Mr. Gurumurthy had maintained that his carelessness had put the party in such a position.
