Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora on Sunday handed over the sanction letter to provide six lakh free LPG connections in 2010-11 to the State to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Chief Minister at his Gopalapuram residence here, Mr. Deora said he also discussed the status of some projects pending in the State.

On his request, the State government said it would expedite the process of acquiring land for the expansion project of the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Mr. Deora said.

His Ministry would also consider the State government's request for expeditiously setting up the LNG terminal at Ennore, he added.

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had announced in the Assembly recently that Indian Oil Corporation and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation would jointly set up a Rs.10,000-crore LNG terminal and power plant near Ennore Port.
