BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar has demanded a thorough investigation into the issue relating to the letter to U.S. President Barack Obama that requested him to not issue a visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

“It is shocking to note that the signatures of many MPs were forged,” he said, referring to statements by a number of Members of Parliament that they had never signed the letter. “The government should order a criminal investigation into this issue. It is also shameful for the country that many MPs had signed the letter against a democratically elected Chief Minister. It is to defame Mr. Modi,” he said.

Mr. Javadekar was part of a three-member BJP team that visited Salem, where party State general secretary V. Ramesh was hacked to death on July 19. Nirmala Sitaraman and Anant Kumar Hegde were the others in the team.
