Mullaperiyar supervisory panel to meet today

The first meeting is mainly for deciding the modalities for inspection of the dam

A three-member committee, constituted by the Centre to supervise raising of the water level of the Mullaperiyar dam and keep a watch on safety on the basis of the Supreme Court judgment in the Mullaperiyar case, will meet here on Tuesday. The first meeting is mainly for deciding the modalities for inspection of the dam before and after the monsoon as directed by the Supreme Court.

The committee, headed by L.A.V. Nathan, Chief Engineer (Dam Safety Organisation), Central Water Commission, has V.J. Kurian, Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources), and M. Saikumar, Principal Secretary (Public Works) as members. Officials of the Kerala government met here on Monday in preparation for the meeting.
