A final detailed project report for constructing a new dam at Mullaperiyar will be ready by May 2011, according to Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan.
Mr. Achuthanandan told the Assembly on Tuesday that the estimated cost of the proposed dam, as per the draft detailed project report, was Rs.58,500 lakh.
A change in the estimate was anticipated on preparing the final report.
Tamil Nadu had opposed the construction of a new dam during talks between two Chief Ministers.
