A 21-year-old motorcyclist is fighting for life after a head-on collision with another two-wheeler that was driven in a rash manner by a 16-year-old in the early hours on Sunday.

Adikesavan, 21, a resident of Triplicane, suffered severe head injuries after his two-wheeler was hit by a bike coming from the opposite direction on Kamarajar Salai. The police officer said the accident happened when the juvenile’s two-wheeler jumped lane when he tried to overtake a car near Vivekanandar Illam.

Meanwhile, social media was rife with rumours that the accident had occurred due to racing. A senior officer of City Traffic Police said one of the bikes had modifications made to it, but the accident was not because of racing.
