As many as 41 major announcements regarding school education would be made when the demand for grant for the Education Department is taken up in Assembly on June 6, said K.A.Sengottaiyan, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister said.
Handing over temporary recognition certificates to 491 private matriculation schools and 40 nursery schools located in six districts, including Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur here on Saturday, Mr.Sengottaiyan said the government was considering making Vellore, Dharmapuri and Namakkal educational districts. Giving permanent recognition to private schools was also under consideration, he said.
A curriculum drafting committee for Plus One would be finalised in consultation with Chief Minister and the announcement in this regard would be made on June 6. Yoga, patriotism and traffic rules would be taught in classrooms. Students would be engaged in sports, Mr.Sengottaiyan said.
Commercial Taxes minister K.C.Veeramani and Labour Minister Nilofer Kafeel were among those participated in the function. District Collector S.A.Raman presided over the function.
Arakkonam MP G.Hari, MLAs N.G.Parthiban, S.Ravi, Jayanthi Padmanabhan, Lokanathan and Dusi Mohan participated.
Speaking to the reporters after the event, Mr.Sengottaiyan said appointment of computer teachers in government schools was under consideration. Part-time special teachers would be given ₹700 additional pay and they would be given an opportunity to work in schools close to their places, he said.
