Fishermen from different coastal villages in the district came with a lot of expectations to take home the moped fitted with iceboxes to help them deliver their marine goods to the consumers’ doorsteps.

But, when they saw the 32 mopeds not having side-stand, left rear-view mirror and bumper, they were disappointed and refused to receive it.

The fishermen, who had come to receive the vehicles with 25 per cent subsidy from the hands of the District Collector, M. Karunakaran, during the farmers’ grievanceday meeting, said that they were prepared to wait till evening or even a couple of days so that the “missing spare parts” could be fitted.

Assurance

However, the officials pacified them with the assurance that the spare-parts would be fixed immediately. And the mopeds were handed over only after fulfilling the promise.
