Mock drill

A mock drill for creating tsunami awareness would be conducted along the coastal areas in Poompuhar on Saturday. Collector S.Palanisamy, in a press release, said an “alert” would be sounded at around 9.30 a.m. on the day to conduct the mock drill to demonstrate rescue and relief operations. The exercise was purely intended as an awareness measure and public in the region need not panic, he said.

“Ensure food safety”

Collector S.Ganesh has instructed all commercial establishments and institutions in the district to strictly adhere to the norms specified for handling food items as per the Food Safety and Standards Act. Complaints with regard to food safety could be lodged over the telephone by dialling 04322-222199 or 9443158399, he said in a press release.
