A judicial magistrate court here acquitted MLA N.K.K.P. Raja and six others in an assault case on Tuesday.

Sivabalan of Perundurai had lodged a complaint at the Kanji Koil police station on October 21 last year alleging that the MLA, his wife Uma Maheswari and his men assaulted and threatened to kill him.

Mr. Sivabalan stated that Mr. Raja had asked him to come to his house, promising to return land documents in his possession. He was assaulted when he went to Mr. Raja's house.

A CB-CID team had investigated the incident and filed a case before the Magistrate Court No. III.

The court acquitted Mr. Raja and the others stating that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against them.
