DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Friday sought the immediate resignation of Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and other Ministers, who, he claimed, received bribes from SRS Mining company partner Sekar Reddy.

Mr. Stalin sought a CBI probe into media reports alleging that the Income Tax department had last year seized certain documents listing the payoffs made by Mr. Reddy’s firm to various politicians.

“I have been saying for a very long time that Mr. Panneerselvam has links with Sekar Reddy. Proper investigation should be conducted into the details of the diary seized by the I-T department. In the meantime, all of them should immediately resign from their posts pending inquiry,” he told reporters.

He added that Governor Banwarilal Purohit must step in and take necessary action on those named in the diary.

‘Moral authority lost’

CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan too demanded the resignation of all the Ministers named in the purported document in the possession of the I-T department.

“They have lost the moral authority to continue as Ministers and should immediately be removed from their posts. The investigation into the case on Sekar Reddy must be fast-tracked,” he said.
