Ministers merely conveyed to the public what was told to them on Jayalalithaa’s health by the Apollo hospital administration and the then State Health Secretary, said the Handlooms and Textiles Minister O.S. Manian in Coimbatore on Wednesday.

He told reporters that the ministers learnt about Jayalalithaa’s health from hospital and the Health Secretary. At this point in time, he was not for a CBI inquiry in to Jayalalithaa’s death and if the Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam had sought, it was better that he offered the reasons for the same.

In response to a question on merger with the T.T.V. Dhinakaran faction, Mr. Manian said he would not be able to offer any comment and it had to be seen with the passage of time if such a merger was possible.

He also had a word of advice for Mr. Dhinakaran — that his criticism had to be civilised.
