Health Minister C.Vijaya Baskar seems to be courting controversy by deploying his 10-year-old V.Priyadarshini for campaigning for him in the Viralimalai constituency.
AIADMK cadre say that the silver-tongued girl, who makes lucid speeches, has been the centre of attraction in the constituency. The girl is studying standard V in Chennai, sources said.
Accompanying her father on the campaign trail over the past few days, she highlights the achievements of the government over the past five years.
Priyadarshini’s campaign has raised eyebrows in political circles since the Election Commission has barred the use of children.
However, a senior election official, requesting anonymity, said action would be initiated if a complaint was received.
When contacted, Mr.Vijaya Baskar maintained that there was no violation in involving his daughter and he had not hired any children.
