N Loganathan (35) of Melpadappai, a teacher in a middle school at Sorappanancheri, near Padappai, was arrested on Friday night on charges of sexually harassing a girl student.
According to police, the accused had reportedly persuaded a 13-year-old girl student in the seventh standard to remain in the class after the school hours so that he could take special classes on the subjects exclusively for her.
On noticing the girl arriving late regularly in the evening under a stressed condition, her parents inquired and came to know about the incident.
Subsequently, the girl’s father, Rajendran of Sorappanancheri lodged a complaint at the All Women Police Station, Sriperumpudur, who interrogated the accused and arrested him on Friday night after collecting necessary evidences to establish that he had committed the crime.
