The medical camp for differently abled children for diagnosing, and providing them with necessary kits for facilitation of inclusive education culminated on Monday.

The annual programme is being carried out under the aegis of the School Education Department’s Erode district wing of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan that subsumes all 14 blocks in Erode district and six blocks in neighbouring Tirupur district.

Measurements of the walking aids required for orthopedically-challenged students had been furnished to ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), the official sources said.

The medical intervention for children with disabilities is a vital component of SSA for facilitation of their inclusive academic progress.

Under the inclusion model, students with special needs spend most or all of their time with normal students.

Students with special needs are supported through a wide range of approaches, options and strategies.

Resource groups formed at the district level with representation from civil society monitor the effective reach of the initiative.
