MDMK men break into celebration

The MDMK cadre in Tuticorin rejoiced on Friday over the defeat of former Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the presidential elections. Celebrations began with partymen led by S. Joel, district secretary of MDMK bursting crackers on Victoria Extension Road in Tuticorin town. The cadre also distributed sweets to the public. Nazareth Durai, deputy general secretary of the party took part.

Later, a resolution to field Vaiko, general secretary of MDMK as contestant in the next State assembly election from Tuticorin constituency was unanimously passed at the party’s workers consultative meeting convened here. Besides, a resolution was also passed thanking Mr. Vaiko for having chosen Tuticorin to host the 23rd State-level general body meeting scheduled on February 1. Various resolutions were also passed on the occasion.
