Ray of hope persists among the students who want to pursue their MBBS course in the Dharmapuri Medical College, as a three-member team from Medical Council of India led by its Chief Inspector Dr. Vyas will inspect the infrastructure and other facilities in the college on Wednesday.
The team is rushing to Dharmapuri after a second hearing on a petition filed by the College at the Supreme Court on Monday. They will arrive Dharmapuri on Tuesday night via Chennai, college sources told The Hindu.
Earlier, it was expected that the team would inspect the college on September 8 and 9 along with two other private medical colleges in the state.
The MCI team which had inspected the college thrice earlier did not responded positively.
As the deadline for the admission to the first year students ends on September 30, the college authorities filed a petition before the Supreme Court Bench on August 28 to direct MCI to give its nod early. The petition was taken up for hearing on September 7 by the bench. After hearing, the bench posted the petition for September 14.
The college sources said that earlier the MCI team led by its Chief Inspector Dr. Vyas had inspected the pace of construction work during April 16 and 17, a team of experts led by Shyam Shingle inspected the site on May 26 and the third inspection was led by Achal Gulati on July 3.
