MCI nod for Pudukottai Medical College

150 students will be admitted this year

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has issued a Letter of Permission (LoP) to admit 150 students in the new Pudukottai Government Medical College for 2017-18.

The MCI team that inspected the newly constructed college recently was said to have been pleased with the facilities created for in-patients, out-patients, doctors, para-medical staff members, laboratories, class rooms, lecture halls and residential and residence quarters. The college will have a 700-bed hospital.

Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had laid the foundation stone for the college through video conferencing on March 1, 2016. The college building has been constructed at an estimate of ₹229 crore on 127 acres at Mullur village.

Of this, ₹108 crore was spent for construction of hospital buildings and ₹61.31 crore for residents and residential quarters. A sum of ₹59.16 crore had been spent for administrative buildings. The medical college buildings have a built-up area of 41,309 square meters. The residential quarters have a built-up area of 20,463 square meters. Total built-up area of the college will be 84,069 square meters.
