Manivannan takes charge as Registrar of Periyar University

M. Manivannan, assumed charge as the Registrar of Periyar University on Thursday.

He was recently Controller of Examinations, Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Education University, Chennai, and was instrumental in using e-governance effectively for the examination systems.

Dr. Manivannan is an able administrator and progressive researcher in the field of Education and Special Education. 

He was employed as Associate Professor at Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai, since 2007 when he headed the School Education. 

He is the founder-head of the School of Special Education and Rehabilitation at TNOU. 

He was involved in the establishment of study centres for various programmes offered by TNOU. 

He was involved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi, in the development of National Level Curriculum Framework for Special Education. 

Member

He had served as the member of Executive Committees/Expert Committees at the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi. 

He also served as the member of expert committee formed by the IGNOU, New Delhi, for developing the course materials for B.Ed. and M.Ed. Special Education.

Books

He has published nine books and 30 articles in the area of Psychology, Special Education, Inclusive Education and Higher Education in the National and International Journals. 

He has guided 40 research studies at the M.Ed., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels, a release of Periyar University said.
