Man waylaid, robbed of Rs. 5 lakh

A 58-year-old man was waylaid and robbed of Rs. 5 lakh in Tiruvannamalai on Friday night.

According to police, Palanisamy, an oil merchant residing in Salem, had come to town to collect money from his customers.

At about 10 p.m., two persons, who had come in a motorbike, knocked him down and decamped with a bag containing cash at Asiliamman Koil Street.

Police are investigating the case.
