Man sentenced to 10 years RI

Mahila Court Judge N. Vasanthaleela on Thursday sentenced P. Nagaraj (33), a casual labourer, to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in his house at S. V. Puram in Udumalpet on January 4, 2013.

V. Parimala, Special Public Prosecutor, said that Nagaraj forcefully took the girl inside his house while she was going to school.

Nagaraj was sentenced to 10 years of RI under the Sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and another two years of RI under Section 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code.

Both the sentences would run concurrently, the SPP added.
