Police have arrested five persons, including a woman, for murdering a 50-year-old man and burying the body in 2013. A case of man missing has now been altered to murder.

According to Walajapet police, Shakeela (50) of V.C. Mottur had an extramarital relationship with Baskar (50). The duo separated from their families and was residing in V.C. Mottur. In 2013, Shakeela lodged a complaint with the Walajapet police that Baskar had gone missing.

However, during investigation, police received information that Baskar was murdered and his body was buried near Ratnagiri. Following inquiry, police found that Shakeela along with four others had murdered Baskar reportedly due to sexual harassment.

Shakeela was running a tiffin shop in V.C. Mottur. She had met Arumugam (26) and told him about her problems. They hatched a plot to murder Baskar and got the help of three others.

The police arrested the five persons. They led the police to the spot where they had buried the body. The body was exhumed in the presence of revenue officials on Thursday, police added.
