A 65-year-old man, along with his paramour, has been arrested for murdering his daughter in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said S. Perumal, a farmer from Pookkuzhi under Munneerpallam police station limits, had developed an illicit relationship with one M. Mariammal (37). His daughter C. Petchiyammal (45), living in the same village, rebuked Mariammal and asked her not to continue the affair. This triggered a rift between the father and the daughter.
When Perumal went to Mariammal’s house on Tuesday night, she had asked her paramour to silence his daughter before meeting her again. Agitated over this, Perumal hacked his daughter, a mother of three girls and a boy, to death around 1 a.m. She died on the spot. Munneerpallam police have arrested Perumal and Mariammal.
