Man killed in road accident

Mohan (48) of Kottapalli in Tiruchengode was killed in a road accident when the lorry in which he was travelling dashed against a roadside tree here on Saturday.

He was a conductor at the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) and also the president of district CITU. On Saturday, he was waiting at the Kottapalli bus stop to catch a bus to Pallipalayam to report to duty. However, he intercepted a cement-laden lorry proceeding towards Erode. After passing few metres, the lorry hit the tree resulting in the accident.

The lorry driver Murugesan of Namakkal was arrested and lodged at prison.
