The police on Saturday arrested a 23-year-old man, M. Harish, for allegedly misbehaving with an Italian woman at a hotel here.
According to the police, Valentia Trentin, 31, stays with her husband Carlow Cisaria and child at a star hotel in Foreshore Estate where Mr. Cisaria works as an executive.
While she was returning to their room with her child , the accused joined them in the lift. The man, under the pretext of playing with the child, touched the woman inappropriately. Even after she told him to stop, the inebriated man tried to touch her, the police said.
The couple took up the matter up with the hotel management and lodged a police complaint.
The police apprehended Harish. A native of Narayanapuram in Chitoor district, Andhra Pradesh, he has been working in a private firm and staying at a relative’s house in the city.
He had come to the hotel to meet his relatives.
Harish was remanded in judicial custody.
