A 45-year-old man, Settu, was arrested by the personnel of All Women police station for sexually abusing a five-year-old girl.

According to police, Settu, a resident of Sathuvachari, had taken the child, playing outside her house, to his house on April 11 in an inebriated condition.

He had sexually abused the child and later threatened her not to tell anyone. The girl returned home and complained to her parents, who took her to a doctor. However, the girl continued to complain of pain and after talking to her, the mother came to know about the incident.

Hospitalised

She was admitted to a private hospital in the city on Sunday. The hospital authorities informed the All Women Police Station, Vellore. Based on a complaint from the girl’s mother, police arrested Settu.

He has been booked under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Indian Penal Code, and remanded to custody.
