The Mahila Court here on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a youth to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
According to the prosecution, S. Dharmaraj (27) kidnapped the minor girl from her residence and took her to an isolated place in a village near Kulithalai and sexually assaulted her. He also threatened the girl of dire consequences if she informed anybody. The incident happened on April 12, 2014.
Based on a complaint from the girl’s mother, the Kulithalai all-woman police registered a case against him under Sec. 366 IPC (kidnap), Sec. 506 (part i) IPC (intimidation), and Sec. 5 M of Protection of Child from Sexual Offences Act. The Sessions Judge of the Mahlia Court, M.Gunasekaran, pronounced the man guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
